Carvões Acesos: Galatea, São Paulo
Conceived by Tomás Toledo, curator and co-founder of Galatea, the exhibition revolves around themes such as love, desire, and passion, represented through a wide range of media: paintings, installations, books, sculptures, objects, and videos by artists who explore emotional tensions and their metaphors.
Beyond its transmedia approach, Carvões Acesos also stands out as a transgenerational and transterritorial proposal. The exhibition establishes dialogues between renowned and emerging artists, connecting generations and artistic territories from Brazil and beyond, expanding interpretations of the explored concepts through different languages and media.
Three main themes compose the exhibition: Enlaces, Metaphors of Love, and Metaphors of Sex. The presented works explore the proximity between bodies, the thrill of eroticism, the magnetism of desire, and multiple representations of couples. The exhibition also delves into metaphorical and poetic interpretations of love, as well as expressions of sexuality that range from more coded to more explicit.
