Luisa Strina Gallery Stand - SOLO by Panmela Castro
At the invitation of curator Ademar Britto, Galeria Luisa Strina is presenting the series "Artistas no Ateliê" in the fair's SOLO project, a space at the fair reserved for the main national galleries dedicated to solo exhibitions by artists.
In the series "Artist in the Studio", Panmela Castro collects the affections of artist friends who have a relationship with her, as well as some others who are a reference point for the artist and her generation. For ArtRio, the artist made a selection of her fellow artists from Rio, including Allan Weber, Márcia Falcão, Wallace Pato, Anna Bella Geiger, Mulambö, Vivian Caccuri, Elian Almeida, Priscila Rooxo, Malvo, Denilson Baniwa, Lyz Parayzo, among others.

Responsible for curating the twelfth edition of SOLO, ArtRio 2023's program that features original projects dedicated to a single artist, Ademar Britto welcomes artists Panmela Castro, Mariela Scafati and Jaime Lauriano for a conversation about the role of the artist and their multiple possibilities in the cultural field.

Inhotim Institutional Stand
Since 2018, Inhotim has invited Brazilian artists who are part of the Institute's collection to create new works. The program is the result of an offshoot of Patronos Inhotim, which published works by Luiz Zerbini, and continued in the following years with works by Laura Vinci and Marcius Galan.
In the third edition of Múltiplos Inhotim, two new artists, Panmela Castro and Arjan Martins, who have works on display at the Institute, are taking part in the project, which not only encourages artistic production and collecting, but also contributes to the upkeep of Inhotim.
Panmela Castro developed a collection of graffitis in collaboration with the Institute's Education Department, based on reflections about the next generations, the future of our common home and thinking about others.

Debate: Multiple Inhotim Project presents Panmela Castro and Arjan Martins
Deri Andrade, assistant curator at the Inhotim Institute, talks to artist Panmela Castro about the creative process for the Múltiplos Inhotim project.
In her series, thinking about the other, the next generations and the future of our common home is the starting point for the artist Panmela Castro's proposal for the creation of a phrase by the Inhotim education staff, a group with which she had already started an emotional association on another occasion, when she was offered flowers on a visit.
Based on this experience, the artist developed a collection of graffittis in shiny material, creating a parallel between the relations of alterity of the writing abandoned for the other, and the empathy recalled by the reflection of herself in this position of the recipient.

Book signing and launch of the book "Hacking the Power"
"Hacking the Power: Guerrilla Tactics for Artists from the Global South" is a collective book born from the experience of more than ten years in art and guerrilla warfare of the Rede NAMI, an organization that has been promoting the presence of women in the arts. For the launch of the book in the ArtRio fair, organized by Rede NAMI and published by Cobogó, artists and curators meet to talk about the work considered one of the milestones of the feminist turn in Brazilian art in the 21st century.

A artista visual Panmela Castro se prepara para sua primeira exposição individual dentro da ArtRio. Representada pela Galeria Luisa Strina, a artista participa do programa SOLO com a série de retratos “Artistas no Ateliê". Panmela também apresenta os múltiplos “Pisar Suave, Adiar o fim”, no estande do Instituto Inhotim, além de ser convidada de duas mesas de debates: “O artista e suas múltiplas possibilidades no campo cultural”, que será transmitida ao vivo, e “Projeto Múltiplos Inhotim apresenta Panmela Castro e Arjan Martins”. Para completar, ela participa da tarde de autógrafos do livro “Hackeando o Poder – Táticas de guerrilha para artistas do Sul Global (editora Cobogó)", lançado em 2023 pela Rede NAMI (organização que Panmela mantém desde 2010).

Deri Andrade, curador assistente do Instituto Inhotim, conversa com a artista Panmela Castro sobre o processo de criação para o projeto Múltiplos Inhotim.
Em sua série, pensar no outro, nas próximas gerações e no futuro da nossa casa comum é o ponto de partida da proposição da artista Panmela Castro para a criação de uma frase pelo educativo do Inhotim, grupo no qual já havia iniciado uma associação afetiva em outra ocasião, quando em uma visita, lhe ofertaram flores.
A partir desta vivência, a artista desenvolve uma coleção de pixos em material reluzente, criando um paralelo entre as relações de alteridade do escrito abandonado para o outro, e a empatia lembrada pelo reflexo de si mesma nesta posição de quem a recebe.

"Hackeando o Poder: Táticas de Guerrilha para Artistas do Sul Global" é um livro coletivo que nasce a partir da experiência de mais de dez anos em arte e guerrilha da Rede NAMI, organização que vem impulsionando a presença de mulheres nas artes.
Para o lançamento do livro organizado pela Rede NAMI e publicado pela editora Cobogó, artistas e curadoras reúnem-se para conversar sobre a obra considerada um dos marcos da virada feminista da arte brasileira no século XXI.
